Squadron Leadership School

Squadron Leadership School provides CAP's adult members with a basic understanding of CAP operations at the squadron level and how those operations affect CAP's national missions. Additionally, members learn more about CAP customs,   core values, and communications. Case studies, discussion, and group assignments are integral facets of the SLS. Completion of the online portion of the course is required prior to attending this one-day CAPstone classroom session.

Over Water Survival Training

Over Water Survival training is a requirement for all CAP aircrew members who fly extended over-water missions. The training must be renewed every three years. The training curriculum includes an online course followed by a classroom and a practical skills session in a swimming pool. Interested participants must complete the online course with exam and bring the certificate of completion to class.

Corporate Learning Course

The Corporate Learning Course (CLC) discusses the relationship the CAP squadron has with the next major echelon of command -- the wing.  Specifically, CLC discusses how wing-level operations help to accomplish CAP's three missions of aerospace education, emergency services, and cadet programs.  It describes the working relationships wing staff officers have with each other, and their squadron level counterparts.

'Curry' BOOT CAMP

The Curry BOOT CAMP transforms ordinary youth into Cadet Airmen in one weekend. It's indoctrination in the best sense of the word. Some hallmarks of the program include:
Provides a standardized, easy to use curriculum; Challenges cadet officers and NCOs as instructors; Builds trust between CAP leaders and parents; Includes a plan for managing administrative tasks; Involves cadets in exciting, hands-on activities.

Aviation Ground School

Selected cadets complete the in-residence school for preparing for FAA Private Pilots Knowledge Exam.  The schedule of instruction is based on the Jeppesen ground school curriculum which includes three stage tests and a final exam. Those scoring over 70% on the final exam will have their logbooks endorsed to take the FAA private pilot knowledge exam. Other classroom activities included ATC simulations, video presentations, group problem-solving, and movies that focused on various milestones in the history of aviation. The 40 hours of class time is balanced with periods of physical fitness activity, while the demanding curriculum fosters a cooperative learning environment where cadets tutor each other and leadership skills are exercised.

Public Affairs Workshop

Public Affairs Workshop is offered by Group level staff IAW CAPR 190-1 requirement for annual training. Topics include the fundamentals of a news release, internet resources, communicating unit messages and much more.
